French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Crimea must be recognized as part of Ukraine for lasting peace in the region. He made the remark during an interview about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Macron had previously suggested Western soldiers might be sent to Ukraine, a statement criticized by Russia. He emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, including Crimea. Macron also warned of Europe’s credibility being at stake if Russia wins the war and reiterated France’s support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
