Ukraine’s military launched successful attacks on two of Russia’s large landing ships, the Yamal and the Azov, in Sevastopol on March 24, 2024. The missiles used were Storm Shadow, reportedly provided by Britain. The extent of damage is unclear, but satellite images show scorch marks on the ships. Ukrainian forces also claimed to have damaged additional Russian ships during the attack. These strikes come in the context of previous Ukrainian attacks on Russian vessels using similar weaponry. The Russian Black Sea Fleet has suffered multiple losses, impacting its sea logistics capabilities and showcasing the effectiveness of Russian air defense systems against advanced cruise missiles.
