A UN envoy on sexual violence in conflict has warned Israel about reports of sexual violence against hostages taken by Hamas during an attack in southern Israel. The envoy urged for a humanitarian cease-fire to end the suffering in Gaza and demanded the immediate release of all hostages. Israel’s Foreign Minister highlighted crimes by Hamas and criticized the UN Security Council for not condemning them. The Palestinian UN ambassador called for investigations into these incidents and invited the envoy to witness the situation in Gaza.
