The United States has refuted claims of carrying out dawn airstrikes in Syria, following reports from Syrian and Iranian state media that alleged US forces had conducted bombings in the eastern region of Syria, resulting in casualties including one civilian and at least seven soldiers, including a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that there were no airstrikes in Syria by the US. The attack in Deir el-Zour left 19 soldiers and 13 civilians injured, with significant damage to public and private properties. Syrian state news agency SANA attributed the attack to “American occupation forces.” The region is known for the strong presence of Iranian militias, prompting occasional clashes with US soldiers, leading to responses like raids on Iran-linked targets. In February, US strikes killed 29 pro-Iran fighters in Deir el-Zour and Mayadeen areas in retaliation for a drone attack on a US base that caused casualties in Jordan.
