An elderly American woman was tragically killed in Zambia after an elephant charged at a vehicle carrying tourists in Kafue National Park. The incident also left another woman injured and four others with minor injuries. The conservation company Wilderness stated that the guide’s route was blocked by terrain and vegetation, preventing him from moving the vehicle out of harm’s way quickly. The deceased woman was identified as 79-year-old Gail Mattson, who was on a dream adventure in Africa. Zambia is a popular destination for safaris due to its national parks and quality guides. Kafue National Park is known for its diverse wildlife. This is not the first fatality in the park, as in 2016, an American tourist was found dead in her hunting cabin, leading to her husband’s life imprisonment.
