The American YouTuber traveled to Haiti to interview a notorious gang leader but was taken by members of a gang shortly after his arrival. Despite $40,000 already being paid, the kidnappers are demanding more money. YourFellowArab has over 1.4 million subscribers and is known for exploring dangerous places. Efforts are being made to secure his release, with fellow streamers confirming the kidnapping and sharing the last video he posted before being taken. Another YouTuber who claims to have spoken to the kidnapped streamer stated that YourFellowArab remains positive and focused on creating content. Criticism has been directed towards the US government for what some perceive as a lack of assistance in securing his release. The State Department has acknowledged the situation but provided no further details, advising against travel to Haiti.
