The world’s largest snake, a Northern Green Anaconda named Ana Julia, was tragically shot dead by hunters in the Amazon Rainforest. The massive snake measured over 26 feet long, weighed more than 440 pounds, and was as thick as a car tire. The snake had gained fame after being filmed with Dutch biologist Professor Freek Vonk. Professor Vonk expressed sadness and anger at the killing of the snake, highlighting the loss to biodiversity. An investigation is ongoing into this incident.
