Yemen’s Houthis have claimed responsibility for firing a cruise missile that landed in an open area of Israel, marking the first time a projectile launched by the Iran-backed group hit Israel. The missile landed in an open area north of Eilat, causing no damage or injuries. The group has also targeted ships in the Red Sea, with recent attacks on tankers, though missing the intended target in both cases. The Houthis, controlling most of Yemen, have been launching drones and missiles at ships since mid-November. The US and UK have retaliated with strikes against Houthi targets, prompting the group to threaten expanding attacks to ships in the Indian Ocean. Footage shows the Houthis conducting military drills simulating a confrontation with enemy forces in Yemen, vowing to fight against the perceived American and British enemies with aggression.
